Sean Hale can still remember when he started working for the city of Stewartville's public works department. "I started with the ice storm of October 1991," he said last week. In the 26 years since, Hale has moved from maintenance I and II positions to water operator, lead water operator and public works supervisor. Then, on Jan. 1, he became the city's new public works director, taking over for Mark Stevens, who held the position from 2005 through 2016.
