Responding to questions from former mayoral candidate Gary Johnson, the City Council has reaffirmed the city staff's decision to use a quit claim deed to transfer a parcel of property in October 2017.
The Council, at its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 13, unanimously reaffirmed the city's administrative action. Mayor Jimmie-John King and councilpersons Craig Anderson, Brent Beyer, Jeremiah Oeltjen and Josh Arndt all supported the city staff's decision.
Melanie Leth, city attorney, wrote a memo to the Council explaining that when a building located at 100 Second Street Southeast was sold in 2017, the buyer's title company determined the city owned a 20-foot wide strip of the property's parking lot immediately adjacent to the building's east wall...
