Finding a compromise after lengthy negotiations, the city of Stewartville and the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office have reached an agreement on law enforcement coverage for 2022 and 2023.
The City Council, at its regular meeting last week, voted 4-1 in favor of a new contract that will cost the city of Stewartville $687,530 for law enforcement in 2022, a $126,090 increase from the $561,440 the city paid for law enforcement in 2021.
The new contract also stipulates the city will pay Olmsted County $824,149 for 2023, a $136,619 increase from the $687,530 it will pay in 2022. The numbers include costs for patrol deputies and for the city of Stewartville's community oriented policing (COPS) deputy...
