Charlotte Doll, 3, of Stewartville, offers a bit of grass to Nelson the alpaca at the Stewartville School District Community Education Departmentís Jumping into the School Year at the Central Education Center on Saturday morning,Oct. 9. Karri Lohmann, co-owner of Rockie Top Acres of rural Spring Valley, brought two alpacas, Nelson and P.T., short for Prime Time, to the event.

Many young children and their parents jumped into the 2021-22 school year on Saturday morning, Oct. 9.
They gathered near the Central Education Center, where the kids met two alpacas from Rockie Top Acres, had their faces painted, jumped around inside a Bounce House and accepted balloons from an artist who stretched and twisted the inflated rubber into a variety of fanciful objects. Inside the Central building were photo opportunities, popcorn and water, an Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) garage sale, parent resources and vendors...
