Minnesota lawmakers, focused on forming what they term the world's best workforce, have passed a statute that lists five pillars necessary to achieve that goal.
Patrick Breen, principal of Stewartville High School, shared those pillars with the School Board at a Monday, Dec. 13 meeting, including:
" All children are ready for school. "This focuses on our preschool level," Breen said.
" All third graders can read at grade level.
" All racial and economic achievement gaps between students are closed.
" All students are ready for a career and college.
" All students will graduate from high school.
Breen, along with Sharon Prunty, principal of Stewartville Middle School, both said the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has affected Stewartville students' ability to reach goals established within the district's achievement and integration and World's Best Workforce plans...
