An 11-2 start, 32-21 halftime score and a lead that swelled to as much as 20 points in the second half helped the Stewartville boys basketball team in its convincing 66-57 triumph at Kasson-Mantorville on Dec. 22. With the HVL win, the Tiger record evened at 3-3 on the young season. Tigers 66, KoMets 57 KJ Riley carried Stewie's offense, driving aggressively to the hoop or from the perimeter, where he hit four 3-pointers. Carter Groski was a force under the iron, swatting five blocks and changing countless shots to anchor the Tiger defense. "Great team defense and an aggressive offense fueled a sound conference win," Tiger coach Adam Girtman praised. Stewie shot 58 percent from two-point range, 40 percent from beyond the arc, drained 25 of 49 or 51 percent overall and made eight of 12 or 66 percent from the free throw line.
