Glen was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was a longtime member of the Stewartville American Legion and Stewartville VFW. He was a member of the Carpenter's Union Local 1382 and the Eagles, both in Rochester. Glen enjoyed going to Leech Lake fishing, cribbage, woodworking, rummage sales and time spent with family.
Glen is survived by two daughters and six sons, David of Grand Rapids, Glynis (Steve) Sturm of Stewartville, Mike of Stewartville, Mark of Marietta, Georgia; Tom (Lisa) of Owatonna, Paul (Tammy) of Fishers, Indiana; Deborah (Glen) Rose of Nederland, Texas and Doug Hyland of Two Harbors; 11 grandchildren, Ryan Hyland, Melissa (Doug) Sturm-Smith, Katie (Jayson) Thaut, Elizabeth (Joe) Harvieux, Andrea Sturm (Jon Benkusky), Keely (Dustin) Ihry, Carly Hyland (Greg Jacobs), Sari (R.J.) He is survived by a brother, Lester (Shirley) Hyland of Spring Valley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice, his sister, Myrtle Schoppers and two brothers, Arnold Hyland and Stan Hyland.
A time of visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday morning.
The Hyland family suggests memorials to the Eagles Cancer Telethon in Rochester. Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville.
