Jerry D. Schwarz, 71, formerly of Racine, passed away Thursday, Nov. 9 at Texas Terrace Care Center and Hospice in St. Louis Park where he had resided for the past two years. Jerry was born June 6, 1946 in Rochester, the youngest child of Merton and Emmie Schwarz. He grew up in Racine, graduated from Stewartville High School and Mankato State University with a degree in Elementary Education. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting pheasants, ducks, fox, coyote and deer. He also enjoyed fishing along the Mississippi River and 'Up North.' He loved to garden, and farm, and enjoyed long drives during the summer to see how the crops were doing. He also loved to reminisce about both old and new friends. Jerry is survived by his children, Brian Schwarz of Minneapolis, Krista (Jeremy) Schubert of Stewartville; grandchildren, Ella and Carter of Stewartville; sister, Carol (Gerald) Leinfelder of Medina and brother, Steven (Jean) Schwarz of Stewartville. He is preceded in death by his parents, Merton and Alma (Swenson) Schwarz. The family would like to thank the staff at Texas Terrace Care Center and Hospice of the Twin Cities for all the care they have provided Jerry over the past two years. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, Nov. 17 at the American Legion Post #164 in Stewartville from 6-8 p.m.
