Funeral for Pearl Henke Feb. 2 at St. John's

The funeral service for Pearl J. Henke, 94, of rural Racine, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Stewartville with Rev. Lyle Fritsch officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville.
Mrs. Henke died on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, of natural causes at Byron Madonna Summitt in Byron, where she had been a resident since March of last year.
Pearl Josepha Baugh was born on June 8, 1923 in Green County, Iowa to Grover and Leora (McCoullagh) Baugh. She grew up in rural Jefferson, Iowa, attended school in Bayard, Iowa graduating from Bayard High School in 1941.
She was married on Feb. 14, 1942 in Jefferson to Kenneth W. Stevens. Following their marriage the couple lived in Jefferson, before moving to southeast Minnesota where they began farming, eventually moving to rural Grand Meadow, where they farmed. Mr. Stevens died on July 2, 1959. Pearl and her children remained in rural Grand Meadow for a few years before moving to Stewartville in 1962.
Pearl was married on April 5, 1964 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Stewartville to William M. Henke. The couple lived on Bill's farm in rural Racine where they continued to make their home for many years. Pearl was a homemaker and farmwife and was also employed at Boyum Foods in Stewartville for a number of years. Bill was a lifelong farmer. Mr. Henke died on May 21, 2007. Pearl lived on the farm for a time before moving to Riverbend Senior Living in Rochester and recently to Byron. She was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Stewartville and was active with its Ladies Aid activities and Altar Guild. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, flower gardening, was an excellent baker and collected angels. She loved time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pearl is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Bill) Wildeman of rural Racine; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great- granddaughter; three step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Bell of Stewartville; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Baugh of Friend, Neb.; two daughters-in-law, Jo Stevens of Aurora, Colo. and Deb Stevens of Byron, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Kenneth Stevens and Bill Henke, two sons, Gary Stevens and Gayle Stevens, five sisters and five brothers.
A time of visitation for family and friends will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018 at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville and one hour. prior to the service at the church on Friday morning.
