Funeral for Millie Liskow March 21 at Zion

The funeral service for Mildred Hinkle Liskow will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church in Stewartville with Rev. Kim Cassidy officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.
Mrs. Liskow, 80, a longtime Stewartville resident, died on Thursday, March 17, 2016 with her loving family by her side, following a lengthy illness with lung cancer. She had been a resident at Seasons Hospice in Rochester for the past week.
Mildred Jane Amos was born on Jan. 16, 1936 in Viola Township, rural Dover, Minnesota Alvin and Lillian (Zimmerman) Amos. She moved with her family as a young girl to Stewartville where she grew up, attended school, graduating from Stewartville High School in 1954.
Mildred was married in 1955 at the United Methodist Church in Sumner Center, to Lester D. Hinkle Jr. Following their wedding the couple lived in Minneapolis and Farmington, before moving to Stewartville where they raised their sons and lived for many years. They were later divorced. Millie was a homemaker and was employed for 30 plus years at Waters Connelly Co. in Rochester.
She was married on Feb. 13, 1986 to Russell E. Liskow in Stewartville, where they have continued to make their home. At the time of their marriage Russell had just retired from Chicago-Northwestern Railroad in Rochester. He then became co-owner and operator with his son, Rick, of Land 'O' Dreams in Owatonna and Rochester. Millie was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Stewartville where she volunteered with its ladies circles. She had a deep faith in the Bible and its teachings and even while terminally ill, was at peace and knew she was going to be with God. She was always ready to reach out to others and would often help nurse ailing family members. Millie and Russ enjoyed spending winters in Florida and trips to Branson, the Black Hills and summer vacations at Woman Lake in northern Minnesota. She liked reading, doing yard work and mowing, shoveling snow and following the Vikings and the Packers. She loved time spent with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Millie is survived by her husband, Russell; two sons, Greg (Sherry) Hinkle and Jeff (Bonnie) Hinkle both of rural Stewartville; one stepdaughter and one stepson, Rick (Debbie) Liskow of Oronoco, and Jeanne Landsittel of Golden, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Jarrod (Breanna) Hinkle, Kyle (Lacy) Hinkle, Jacob Hinkle, Janelle Hinkle, Niki (Rob) Langheim, Ryan Liskow, Kacy Landsittel, and Jesse Knutson; nine great-grandchildren, Pierson, Keely, Elsie and Decker Hinkle, Aidan, Finn and Ari Liskow, Quinn and Heath Knutson; two sisters and one brother, Helen Gusa of Stewartville, Bonnie Gathje of Pine Island, and Don "Buck" (Jan) Amos of Stewartville, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Merle Taylor and Charlotte "Shorty" Johnson; one brother Gerald "Ike" Amos, and an infant great-grandson Braxton Hinkle.
Visitation will take place from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, March 20 at Zion Lutheran Church in Stewartville, and on Monday morning one hour prior to the service at the church.
The family suggests memorials to Zion Lutheran Church and Seasons Hospice. Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville. www.griffin-gray.com
