Despite his golden character, this poor dog sees his life pass him by behind the bars of his cubicle. And he can’t take it any more. His name may be “Lucky”, but he hasn’t had much luck. Aged 10, this poor dog went into the kennels of a refuge more than 4 years ago and has never come out. Like other Malinois, Lucky has suffered from human irresponsibility, and there are a lot of dogs of this breed in kennels. So, not being young anymore, it’s hard for him to stand out. But he’s clearly visible: situated at the entrance, visitors can’t miss him. Lucky understands this, and always looks at new people with his gentle eyes, hoping that this time he’ll be the one heading for the exit. But that day never comes, and Lucky watches resiliently as the lucky pups leave the refuge with their new families. Now the situation is getting harder and harder for him, and he seems to be giving in to despair.
An impressive dog with a tender heart Of course, like many Malinois, Lucky impresses with his athletic build and energy. Despite his age, Lucky is no grandpa, and this life of confinement has taken a terrible toll on him. Like any self-respecting Belgian Shepherd, he has a strong need for physical and mental exercise, and life in a kennel doesn’t allow him to feel good about himself.
Although he has put up with this daily routine for many years, he no longer has the strength to pretend. Lately, Lucky has shown a worrying resignation: as if he no longer hoped to have the right to happiness, he is going deeper and deeper into his box, even though he used to be reluctant when he had to go back there after a few walks in the refuge… Lucky has already lost almost half his life in a cage, and it’s urgent that he finds kind humans who will fulfil his dream of a family life, while also being able to help him adapt. Although he has a very tender heart and is always friendly and sociable with humans, he can sometimes get carried away by his emotions and can also jump. But after a life where he has to contain his energy all day and lacks social interaction, can you really blame him?

Today, this brave Malinois absolutely must find masters who will give him a taste for life again. Very close to humans, he is extremely affectionate, a good listener and eager to spend time with people who will finally give him some attention. Lucky can get along with some dogs, but not with cats. So will you be the one to put him out of his misery? Lucky is at the Chameyrat SPA in Corrèze (19). If you’d like more information about this charming fellow, you’ll find all the contact details you need on the refuge’s Facebook page.
