Four individuals, one team inducted into Hall of Fame
Speaking to a large gathering at the Stewartville American Legion Post 164, Kim (Hebl) Severson shared her favorite volleyball memories.

|Stewartville High School’s boys track team, which won the state championship in 1997, was inducted into the Stewartville Athletic Hall of Fame at a banquet on Saturday evening, Nov. 23. "I started playing volleyball at 12," she said. "I wasn't very good at the time. I started as a setter, and I so badly wanted to be a hitter."
She recalled that as an eighth grader, she traveled to Minneapolis to watch the Minnesota Gophers play volleyball.
"I remember saying to myself, 'I want to do this,' " she said. "I want to be a college volleyball player."
Hebl-Severson is one of four individuals named to the Stewartville Athletic Hall of Fame class of 2019. She and the others, Gary Aswegan, Gordy Koehn and Howard "Zeke" Sloneker, spoke to the audience gathered at the fifth Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet on Saturday evening, Nov. 23. Earl DeBates, the head coach of the 1997 state champion Stewartville High School boys track and field team, introduced members of the team that was also inducted into the Hall of Fame...
