COVID-19 shatters dreams for senior athletes
When Gov. Walz announced on April 23 that the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic would limit Minnesota’s schools to distance learning for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year, senior athletes in seven spring sports knew they would be deprived of their final season of competition. Seven of the athletes, abiding by social distancing guidelines, and their sports, include, front row, from left, Carlie Hildebrandt, softball; Kailee Malone, girls track; and Payton Maas, girls golf. Back row, from left, Trevon Schaefer, boys track (pole vault); Zane Stier, baseball; Nick Lechtenberg, boys golf; and David Wilson, boys tennis.
