When Gov. Walz announced on April 23 that the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic would limit Minnesota’s schools to distance learning for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year, senior athletes in seven spring sports knew they would be deprived of their final season of competition. Only a few months ago, Stewartville High School's senior spring sports athletes were looking forward to their final season of competition.
Their dreams came to an end, however, after Gov. Walz announced on Thursday, April 23 that the coronavirus (COVID-19) would limit Minnesota's schools to distance learning for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year and also close the door on what would have been the seniors' sporting farewell.
Senior athletes Carlie Hildebrandt, Kailee Malone, Payton Maas, Trevon Schaefer, Zane Stier, Nick Lechtenberg and David Wilson were all saddened by the news...
