Opening one of the back entrances to the Stewartville Fire Station, Captain Steve Denny took his time backing out the Fire Department's recently acquired ladder truck.
Denny is one of many firefighters happy to see the 2004 Seagrave model with a 104-foot high platform, which will enhance the SFD's ability to fight local and area fires.
The Seagrave replaces a 40-year-old ladder truck that had been part of the SFD's fleet for 18 years.
"(The older truck) had a few mechanical issues," Denny said. "The cost of fixing it would have exceeded the value of the truck."
The SFD acquired the older truck from Ames, Iowa, Denny said...
