Maya Ramp, a 2020 graduate of Stewartville High School, earned a Brennan Family Scholarship to attend the University of Notre Dame. Now on campus, she poses with a Notre Dame pennant, scarf and sweatshirt.
As a student at Stewartville High School, Maya Ramp excelled in the classroom and served her community. As a graduate with the SHS class of 2020, she earned highest honors, finishing with a grade point average between 3.90 and 4.0 on a 4.0 scale. As a junior, she earned a varsity letter for community service, putting in 290 hours of service, double the number of hours she needed to earn the letter. She was a member of Stewartville's Girl Scout Troop 44038, which donated 74 boxes of Girl Scout cookies, unsold as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19 pandemic), to Family Service Rochester's Meals on Wheels program. "I have been blessed with so many crazy, cool gifts, it would be selfish of me not to share them with others," she said in an email. With the pandemic cancelling one event after another, she was part of an SHS graduating class that wasn't able to enjoy a traditional commencement ceremony. The most difficult part, she said, was not being able to say goodbye to her teachers... For more on this story pick up your copy of the Aug. 25 Stewartville STAR.
