Adopt-A-Tiger program supports local educators
Seven of the eight individuals driving the Adopt-A-Tiger program held a Zoom meeting to discuss the progress of the program last week. Mindful that the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has challenged Stewartville's teachers, students and staff in very unique ways, Char Petrich came up with an idea.
Thankful for local educators' extra efforts on behalf of the district's children, she proposed pairing individual community members with individual teachers or staff members on a one-to-one basis.
The Adopt-A-Tiger program, as it's now known, gives local and area residents a chance to support educators in a variety of ways.
"Since March, our teachers, students and district staff have been asked to work and learn differently," Petrich said in an email. "This isn't easy to do, but our teachers and district staff stepped up to the challenge. While the transition has not been perfect, we know they are all doing the very best they can, and we want them to know how much we appreciate all they are doing..."
