Looking back on her childhood, Jen Schurmeier recalls the joy of being creative. As a young girl, she took delight in working on arts and crafts with her family. As the years passed, she attended classes in pottery, jewelry making, cake decorating and painting. "I love creating things, especially large displays," she said in an email. "I love looking for new ideas and get excited to try them out. I am hopeful that whatever I have created brings joy to others." As a paraprofessional at a school library in Stewartville, she loved working on window displays. She still remembers the students' excitement whenever she finished a project. Schurmeier, who owns Storage Solutions, a storage business, and a small farm stand on the southwest edge of Stewartville, says making Christmas displays helps her release her creative energy...
