For Lacie Tingesdal of Stewartville, owning her own license bureau is a lifetime dream come true.
Tingesdal and her husband, Chris, have purchased the license bureau in Grand Meadow, where they officially opened last Nov. 1.
With the purchase, the Tingesdals became third-generation license bureau owners.
It all started when LeRoy W. (Red) Malone opened the license bureau in downtown Rochester on March 7, 1960. Slightly more than four years later, after Red's sudden and unexpected death, Mary Malone, Red's wife, took over the bureau in 1964.
A front-page story in the Thursday, July 2, 1964 Stewartville STAR reported on Red Malone's death, stating that his wife, Mary, would assume her husband's duties as Olmsted County deputy registrar of motor vehicles. The story states, in part...
