Byron Meline, retiring after serving as pastor of Zion Lutheran Church for more than 12 years, cherishes many beautiful memories from his time in Stewartville. As he begins retirement, he says he’s experiencing a range of emotions, including: thankful, reflective, excited, sad, joyful, a bit fearful, expectant, peaceful, trusting, fulfilled and appreciated.

Having retired effective June 30 after his 12-plus years as pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, Byron Meline cherishes many beautiful memories.
He recalls receiving warm hugs or "thank you's" from children on the way out of church, being present with a family after the death of a loved one, playing Bible football or baseball with fifth and sixth graders, and spending hours with couples preparing for marriage.
He remembers wonderful moments during children's sermons, sharing a good laugh at congregation council or team meetings, engaging in meaningful conversations with youth and adults, and working alongside other Zion staff members.
He looks back at delivering sermons that connected with people, being touched by a song at worship, taking part in Stewartville's Fourth of July Summerfest activities and playing tuba in the Stewartville Community Band.
"And now, very fresh in my mind, is the wonderful send-off I received from the people of Zion on June 27," he said...
