The High Forest Township staff, with input from the city of Stewartville and its residents, has come up with a list of 44 proposed conditions developer Jessup DeCook would have to meet if he receives an interim use permit to mine sand and gravel near the Stewartville city limits.
Northeast Stewartville residents oppose the mining, saying it would take place too close to the city limits, increase traffic, noise and air pollution, and adversely affect area wildlife.
More conditions may be added during the interim use process, officials say.
Due to space limitations, the Stewartville STAR will list 11 conditions per week in each of four editions of the STAR.
