Dan Christie, left, and his dad, Dana, display a small sample of the 25 percent of their 630 acres of corn they’ve harvested, as of last week, on their 1,927-acre farm about 15 miles west of Stewartville. “This is probably one of the better years (for corn), if not the best,” Dana said. “We’re averaging over 200 bushels per acre.”

Although challenged by the COVID-19 pandemic and a mid-summer dry spell, Dana Christie and his son Dan are pleased with the corn and soybeans at their 1,927-acre farm about 15 miles west of Stewartville.
As of last week, the Christies were about 25 percent finished with harvesting their 630 acres of corn. The early results are very encouraging, they said.
"This is probably one of the better years (for corn), if not the best," Dana said. "It's going to be pretty good on corn. We've averaged over 200 bushels per acre."
Even so, the Christies won't know the full story of their corn harvest until they get into their remaining fields...
