Hundreds upon hundreds of local and area residents enjoyed Bear Cave Park, the brand new venue for the Stewartville Area Chamber of Commerce's 2021 Summerfest celebration. So says Gwen Ravenhorst, Chamber administrator, who helped plan this year's festivities. "I heard nothing but positive feedback about Bear Cave Park," Ravenhorst said in an email last week. "There was flatter ground to walk on, more parking space, closer parking spaces, easier set-up and less congestion. Those are just a few of the comments I've heard in the past few days." Traditionally, Summerfest has been held at Florence Park. "We have always loved Florence Park as an event venue, but we were outgrowing the space for Summerfest," Ravenhorst said. "We had to close public streets where residents live. We needed more space to provide all the activities we currently host, plus all the (additional) ones we want to host." The Chamber's committee chairpersons and Board of Directors were a bit nervous about moving an event as large as Summerfest to a new venue, Ravenhorst said...
