The Stewartville Lions Club will raise money to fight blindness and other diseases with its annual White Cane Day this Friday, April 27. Mayor Jimmie-John King, a member of the Lions Club, seated in center, signed a proclamation last week declaring April 27 White Cane Day in Stewartville. Although snow has covered the ground later than usual this year, spring is still a season of brilliant color in southeastern Minnesota. In a short time, the rain will transform the grass into a rich, dark green, and flowers will bloom in reds and yellows. Although some folks may take the beauty of spring for granted, that's not likely for the members of Lions Club International, who have worked for many years to restore the gift of sight to millions of people around the world.
