Bear Cave Intermediate School students helped members of the Stewartville Lions Club plant 20 young maple trees along the northern edge of the school playground on Friday, May 18. Each standing about 30 feet apart, the 20 young maple trees form a long and orderly row just north of Bear Cave Intermediate School. Members of the Stewartville Lions Club planted the trees as a Lions Legacy project to celebrate the 50th year of the local club's existence and the 100-year anniversary of Lions Club International, which occurred in 2017. The Stewartville Lions Club Board came up with idea for the project in April. The tree line, which extends the full width of the school, will provide shade for spectators who watch future school activities, said Rod Morlock, Lions Club member...
