How hot was it at the Stewartville Area Chamber of Commerce's Independence Day Summerfest celebration last week? Well, let's put it this way: really, really hot. But it wasn't hot enough to stop hundreds of shoppers from browsing among more than 40 arts and crafts booths from 10 a.m. until a summer storm blew in with enough rain to halt the proceedings at about 2:30 p.m. Nor was it hot enough to stop Roberta Heckerson and Sandy Merkel from selling their items at Summerfest for the third time. Heckerson and Merkel, business partners with R&S Crafts, were among the arts and crafts vendors who set up shop along Lakeshore Drive on Wednesday, July 4.
