In years past, Stewartville's annual Filthy 50 bicycle race has been held on sunny, mild and even hot October days. Not so on Sunday, Oct. 14, when 533 riders showed up at the Fareway parking lot to ride in the snow, wind and cold. Of the group that started, 234 finished the Filthy 50, a 50-mile journey along the gravel roads of southeastern Minnesota. Another 47 finished "The Pretty Filthy," a 24-mile version of the longer ride; and 12 more riders completed "The Little Filthy," an even shorter version of the other two races. In all, 240 riders...
