Daniel Ware watched as workers from Hathaway Tree Service cut down his trees last week. The trees came down on Monday morning, June 10, to make room for the city of Stewartville to extend Fourth Avenue Southeast through Ware's property. It didn't take long for the Hathaway employees to cut down a row of four cedar trees and two 80-year-old walnut trees. For Ware, the felling of the trees was a stark reminder that he had lost his legal battle with the city of Stewartville, which used the eminent domain process to gain access to Ware's land. After the workers left, Ware sat down at a picnic table to share his views. He said he's sad and disappointed that the city won the right to divide his land into two separate parts...
