The water tower that has served the city of Racine since 1962 was disassembled and taken down last week. Workers from Maguire Iron, Inc. of Sioux Falls, S.D. started building a new 140-foot tall tower for the city last October and finished the job in about four weeks, said Deri Nordsving, mayor of Racine. With the brand new tower up and running, the old tower was no longer needed. The 120-foot tall tower needed a paint job and required refurbishing to meet OSHA standards, work that would have cost...
