A local man has been accused of stealing Dilly Bars, cheese curds, frozen hamburger patties and more from the Stewartville Dairy Queen. Jaden Lorentzen, 20, was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary and possession of stolen property after Olmsted County Sheriff's deputies were called to the Dairy Queen on Sunday, June 30 at 8:25 p.m., said Sgt. James Schueller of the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office. After authorities arrived at the scene, Dairy Queen personnel told them that someone had broken into a storage shed near the DQ and taken a tool box, sledge hammer and other tools, Schueller said. As deputies were talking to the DQ workers, authorities received a call from a Stewartville mother who said her son had come home with a several items from Dairy Queen, Schueller said. Shortly thereafter, deputies discovered that someone had taken a variety of items from a freezer inside the storage shed, including a tool box with a DQ logo on it, a sledge hammer, an ice pick, Dilly Bars, cheese curds and frozen hamburger patties. Lorentzen made no forced entry into the storage shed, which had been left unlocked, Schueller said. Even so, he was still charged with burglary because he allegedly entered the shed to take the items, Schueller explained. Lorentzen made an initial appearance in Olmsted County District Court on Monday, July 1. The severity of Lorentzen's punishment will depend on whether he has a criminal record, Schueller said.
