The money will help pay for the new VFW Veterans Memorial planned to be built near the south entrance to Stewartville.
The Stewartville Lions Club is thankful for America's veterans. Club members displayed that gratitude by donating $1,000 to help pay for the Stewartville Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Veterans Memorial to be established near the south entrance to the city. Paul Bonnerup of the Lions Club presented the check to Roger Peterson, past VFW commander, and Roger Barsness, quartermaster (treasurer) of the VFW, at the Lions' monthly meeting at Riverview Greens on Thursday, Nov. 21. The VFW, with help from Stewartville American Legion Post 164, is seeking funding for the memorial, which will be built to honor Stewartville and area veterans for their service to America. The VFW and Legion are seeking grants and donations from a number of sources, including businesses, individuals and organizations, to help pay for the project...
