Mayor Jimmie-John King shared a few words of encouragement with the Stewartville High School class of 2020 last week. King, delivering his mayor's report to the City Council on Tuesday evening, May 26, said he and the Council are aware that this year's seniors have been devastated by how the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has affected their graduation plans. "This should have been one of the biggest events of your life to this point," the mayor said. "We're also sad for you, but remember that your high school graduation isn't the only achievement you will accomplish. We're expecting big, big things of a lot of you, of all of you." Someday, the SHS class of 2020 will look back at their senior year differently, King said. "This will be a milestone," he said. "You'll be the only class that got to graduate with the COVID. Just make it as great a time as you can at this time..." For more on this story pick up your copy of the June 2 Stewartville STAR.
