Under the terms of a proposed ordinance the City Council discussed last week, only individuals with a valid permit could legally operate all-terrain, utility task vehicles and golf carts in Stewartville.
Mayor Jimmie-John King and his fellow Council members reviewed the ordinance for the first time at Stewartville City Hall on Tuesday evening, March 9.
Cheryl Roeder, city clerk, in a memo to the Council, explained the ordinance has been proposed at the request of the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office and the City Council's Public Safety Committee, which includes Councilpersons Josh Arndt and Brent Beyer.
