Grand Parade to make comeback at Summerfest

The Stewartville Area Chamber of Commerce will present its annual Summerfest celebration at Bear Cave Park for the first time, with most events scheduled to be held on Saturday, July 3 and Sunday, July 4. Traditionally, the event has been held at Florence Park. Responding to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Stewartville Area Chamber of Commerce scaled back its Fourth of July Summerfest celebration in 2020.
A mini-parade with about 10 units, including Olmsted County deputies, the Stewartville American Legion Post 164, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 8980, Mayor Jimmie-John King and Chamber of Commerce representatives, wound its way through the city's streets on a hot and humid Saturday, July 4.
But this year, as it has been for many years before COVID-19 hit, thousands of spectators from across southeastern Minnesota and beyond are expected to line up three- and four-deep along the streets of Stewartville to watch the Chamber's annual grand parade.
