Even though there are plenty of law enforcement openings in Minnesota, relatively few residents are applying for the jobs, Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson told the City Council at its Tuesday, March 22 meeting. The Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST), the governing board that hires and licenses deputies in Minnesota, has indicated there are 800 to 1,000 openings for law enforcement jobs in the state, Torgerson said.
