Beginning on Monday, April 4, motorists will encounter a four-way stop at the intersection of Hwy. 30 and Olmsted County Road 1 east of Stewartville. "Changes are being made to improve safety at the intersection, which has seen a series of crashes the past five years," the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) said in an online news release. Between 2016 and 2021, MnDOT recorded 17 crashes at the intersection, including three that caused serious injuries, although none were fatal, the news release said. On occasion, the crashes were caused by confused drivers expecting vehicles coming from the other direction to stop, the release said...
