Pam Lore and three companions paid a friendly visit to Stewartville's Citywide Garage Sale on Thursday, May 5. Enjoying cool, virtually windless conditions in the upper 50s, the four drove from northern Iowa to search for bargains at the city's annual extravaganza. Lore lives in Bassett, Iowa, about an hour's drive from Stewartville. She was joined by Iowa friends Kathy and Claire Girkin, from Ionia, and Rose Qualley from New Hampton. Lore browses at garage sales with an open mind. "You never know what you might find, and you don't want to look for one specific item, because otherwise you miss the best stuff," she said. "I don't look for one specific thing." She says she spends up to 15 minutes at each sale, searching for items at bargain prices...
