Steelcase, a leading provider of office furniture and one of the world's most admired companies 16 consecutive years, has acquired HALCON Furniture of Stewartville. In early May, officials for both companies announced they had signed a definitive agreement for Steelcase to acquire HALCON. At the time, the transaction was expected to become official in early June. Ben Conway, president of HALCON, issued a written statement calling HALCON a respected leader in the executive office market segment. "Teaming with Steelcase will serve to further strengthen HALCON as a company," Conway said. "As an independent subsidiary of Steelcase, we will retain our brand, organizational structure, and employees, while enjoying many benefits, including increased purchasing power, additional resources, and expanded worldwide distribution to best position us for additional growth and success in the years ahead." Steelcase was interested in the purchase because it was impressed with HALCON's superior product craftsmanship and its support for the premium wood and executive solutions market, Conway said...
