Bobby and Angela Carr have a soft spot in their hearts for America's veterans. The Carrs, owners of Carr's Bar 'N Grill in Racine, have shown their love for the country's war heroes by donating $10,000 to help pay for the construction of the new Veterans Memorial Park near Stewartville's south entrance. Bobby, Angela, and Katie Haukom, the Carrs' daughter and a Carr's Bar 'N Grill employee, made the donation official when they presented an oversized, ceremonial $10,000 check through the Stewartville Area Community Foundation to Roger Peterson, Roger Barsness and Roger Winch of the Stewartville Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), the organization building the Veterans Memorial Park, on Monday morning, Sept. 19. "My entire family, my uncles, cousins and my dad, they're all veterans," Bobby Carr said. "We respect our veterans for what they've done for our country." The Carrs' donation helped the VFW reach its fundraising goal for the Memorial Park... For more on this story pick up your copy of the Sept. 27 Stewartville STAR.
