Having received an early literacy grant from the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF), the Stewartville Kiwanis Club used the funds to purchase a book for each child at the St. John's Wee Care Learning Center. Celebrating Pajama Day last week, Lori Torgerson, a Wee Care teacher and a member of the Kiwanis Club, reads the book Snow to Wee Care caterpillar students Mallory Kiefer, 4, left, and Brooks Podein, also 4. The Kiwanis Club also used the grant funds to buy books for Stewartville School District children scheduled for preschool screening.
