At its regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 28, the City Council approved a resolution to ask the Minnesota commissioner of transportation to advance the city up to $1,030,230 in municipal state aid funds to help pay for work on the northern part of the street. Cheryl Roeder, city clerk, said the street work, scheduled to begin in early summer, will include adding sidewalks on both sides of the street.
The state of Minnesota will help the city of Stewartville pay for the northern portion of a project to fix Fifth Avenue Southeast.
