The two are among the 134 teachers across the state nominated for the honor. Affeldt says she loves math. She wears math shirts, such as the one pictured above, tells math jokes and tries to sell the subject any way she can. Parry runs the REACH program, which offers personal assistance to a variety of students, many of whom have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACE’s) at home.

Two Stewartville teachers have been nominated for Minnesota Teacher of the Year.
