Mindful of the guidelines for the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Stewartville School Board held a virtual meeting on Monday evening, April 27 to communicate with other School Board members and school officials who logged on to the meeting from their devices at home.

Cherishing fond memories while looking forward to new beginnings, the 131 members of the Stewartville High School class of 2020 will celebrate their graduation in a very unique way this July.
With the coronavirus pandemic forcing them to delay their commencement ceremony for more than six weeks, the graduates will receive their diplomas on Friday, July 24.
The School Board, at its regular meeting last week, unanimously approved the new date for the commencement ceremony, to be held at Schaefer Field at 7 p.m. that day.
Rebecca Wortman, School Board chair, and members Todd Emanuel, Will Welch, Nichol O'Neill, Lori Miller-Beach, Dean Mikel and Ryan Ravenhorst all approved the new date.
Last fall, the School Board scheduled the commencement ceremony for Sunday, June 7 at 2 p.m.
Belinda Selfors, superintendent, told the School Board last week that the late July date was chosen after Gov. Walz stated he had a hard time envisioning anyone coming together for a school event in June and early July.
Restricted by the coronavirus, SHS's graduates may have to keep their distance from each other by observing social distancing guidelines during the graduation ceremony...
