Bryan Runkle, the manager of Grisim School Bus, Inc., isn't comfortable in the spotlight.
"It's nice to be recognized, but I'd rather stay in the background," he said.
A humbled and grateful Runkle accepted the Minnesota School Bus Operators Association (MSBOA) Transportation Specialist Award at the Arrowwood Resort & Conference Center in Alexandria on Tuesday, June 22. He was one of only six transportation specialists in the state to receive the honor.
Runkle said he enjoyed the dinner and the ceremony that evening. He recalled an MSBOA official saying the room was "full of goodness."
"The room was full of people who care about their communities," he said. "The public sees a bus company, a company that picks up the kids and that's it. But there's way more to it..."
