After graduating three starters, the Stewartville boys tennis team will hit the courts with eight returning letterwinners and 28 candidates to fill 10 varsity spots to compete in the HVL and a realigned Section 1A field. Four seniors in Tom Chopp, Joey Krapf, KJ Riley and Daniel McCollough will be joined by juniors Justin Beach, Ethan Humble, Ethan Olerich and Gabe Nelson in leading a large group of varsity hopefuls. "Until we get on the courts we won't know our lineup," Tiger coach Kelly Manley noted. "Our returning varsity players have experience in both singles and doubles and that versatility will allow us move people around." This season, the teams in Section 1A will include Rochester Lourdes, Fairmont, St. James, Waseca, Winona Cotter, Blue Earth, and Schaefer Academy. Rochester Lourdes is the defending section champ and is considered the preseason favorite to win the title again in 2018.
