After winning its first four games to earn a top 10 Class AAA ranking, the Stewartville football team (5-4) lost three of its last four regular season games, fell to the No. 4 in the section seeding and ended its year losing 40-35 to No. 5 Pine Island (5-4) in the first round of the Section 1AAA playoffs at home on Oct. 23. Both teams scored first-quarter touchdowns before the Tigers took a slim 21-20 lead at the break. The Panthers cashed in on two third-quarter touchdowns, but Stewie put up a goose egg and PI took a 33-21 margin into the fourth quarter. The Tigers outscored the Panthers 14-7 in the final 12-minute session, but came up five points shy on the scoreboard at the end of regulation...
