Memorial service for Bob Theuner Oct. 13 at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home

Robert "Bob" Theuner, 83, a Stewartville resident, died on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, from complications of heart disease, at Mayo Clinic, St. Marys Campus, Rochester.
Robert Irven Theuner was born June 28, 1934, in Kellogg to Irven and Stella (Lamey) Theuner. He grew up in Kellogg and attended Kellogg country school. He enlisted into the Air Force in 1952, serving 17 years including duty overseas in Korea and in Vietnam as an aircraft mechanic.
Bob was married on April 20, 1957, in Madison, Wis., to Betty Lou Schultz. Following their marriage, Betty lived on various bases with Bob, and when he was deployed to Vietnam, Betty and her children lived in Rochester to be near family. Bob was a TSgt at the time of his discharge in 1969. The family moved back to Minnesota where they lived in Stewartville and Kasson before moving to Rochester, where they raised their family and lived for a number of years.
Bob was employed as a heavy equipment operator working on various road construction projects with many companies including Quarve and Anderson Construction in Rochester, Park Construction, Ames Construction and Willie Holmes Construction in Goodhue, until his retirement in 1996. Betty was a homemaker and was employed at Sears Department store in Rochester for a few years. Bob and Betty lived in rural Kellogg for 16 years, before moving to their home in Stewartville in 2004.
Bob was a member of the 49ers Union-49B in Rochester and the Stewartville American Legion Post 164. He attended Caring Partners Program in Rochester.
He and Betty enjoyed traveling together on many bus trips. Bob was an avid racing fan going to many stock car races in the area with his son, Dave, going to the Daytona 500 twice and following NASCAR. He enjoyd fishing, motorcycling, four-wheeling, snowmobiling and watching professional wrestling. He loved to tinker with anything automotive and could fix anything.
He loved time spend with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife, Betty; his son, David of Stewartville and his daughter, Diane (Sam) Batzel of Rochester; four grandchildren, Justin Theuner, Rosanna Theuner, Cali Batzel and Cady Batzel; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Autumn; three sisters, Patricia Markwardt of Rochester, Shirley Druansky of Madison, Wis. and Donna Brown of Romulus, Mich. and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Elaine Witte and Catherine Cox and two brothers, Ralph and Virgil Theuner.
A time of visitation for friends and familhy will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville, followed by a memorial service at the funeral home with the Rev. David Hoot officiating. Burial with military gravesie honors by Stewartville American Legion Post 164 will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14 at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville.
