His hobby was farming and doing mechanical work in his shop. He loved time spent with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Robert is survived by two sons, Jim Schrandt (Charlotte Weichmann) and David (Mary) Schrandt, both of Stewartville; seven grandchildren, Bradley (Cholee) Schrandt of Olympia, Wash., Melissa (Jeffrey) Wooner of Rochester, Kelly Schrandt of Rochester, Matthew Schrandt of Sioux Falls, S.D., Kasey (Julie) Schrandt of Inver Grove Heights and Gina (Austin) Schatz of Stewartville; 16 great-grandchildren, Krista, Kaiden, Ally, Mira, James, Archer, Olivia, Nolan, Reese, Cael, Aiden, Mya, Colton, Levi, Anna and August.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Levy, two sons, Steven and Larry, a granddaughter, Amy, his parents, and brother, John Schrandt.
A time of visitation for family and friends will take place one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial and a committal service with military graveside honors by the Stewartville American Legion Post 164 will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville.
Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville.
