Sandra Jeanne Janssen (Sandi), 73, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at her home in Harlingen, Tex. on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2019. Born on Nov. 23, 1945 in Stewartville, to Allen and Lorraine Lowrie, the family moved to Kasson where Sandi attended Kasson Schools, graduating in 1963. Following attendance at Michigan State University for one year, she returned to the Rochester area, working for Mayo Clinic. Sandi married Barry Janssen on Sept. 17, 1971 in Stewartville, where they made their home and raised their family. She also worked for many years at IBM in Rochester, Stewartville Public Schools as an dministrative secretary, and as a realtor in Ottertail, following their move north. In retirement, Sandi and Barry spent many winters in Harlingen, culminating with a move to that area more recently. Sandi enjoyed her children and grandchildren, spending time with her friends, traveling, and going to South Padre Island. Sandi is survived by her husband, Barry of Harlingen; their children, Tracy (Sam) Dutcher of Rochester, Jonathan of Moose Lake, Jeffrey of the Philippines, Joseph of Ottertail, and Jordan (Charlee) of Queen Creek, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and her mother-in-law, Blondie Janssen of Stewartville. She was preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law, Lyle Janssen, and a daughter-in-law, Tabitha.
