Funeral for Sue Lund Dec. 27 at Zion Lutheran Church

Sue Lund, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother left her earthly home on Dec. 19, 2019, surrounded by her family.
Delores Suzann Stobbs was born on March 16, 1938 to Walter and Margaret Stobbs in Alton, Ill. She was the little sister of Dwight F. Stobbs. She was a graduate of Alton High School and received her nursing degree at Missouri Baptist School of Nursing in St. Louis, Mo.
While studying for her nursing degree, Sue met the true love of her life, Bruce Alan Lund, Sr., a student at Washington University School of Dental Medicine. Upon graduation, Sue was a member of the surgical nursing staff at Missouri Baptist Hospital. Sue and Bruce were married at Upper Alton Baptist Church in Alton in July 9, 1959 before Bruce was commisioned as an officer in the U.S. Navy and they moved to San Diego, Cal. While in California, Sue worked as a nurse at a local hospital. In 1962, Bruce accepted a fellowship with Mayo Clinic in Rochester, and they moved to the Midwest. Sue continued her nursing career at Olmsted Community Hospital in Rochester.
As their family continued to grow, Sue decided to stay home as a fulltime mom. They bought a small acreage in rural Stewartville and made their forever home. When the kids had grown, Sue returned to nursing and worked parttime for Dr. A.F. Risser in Stewartville until his retirement in 1994. The nursing vocation continued to beckon her caring spirit and she worked as a ParaMed Examiner for different insurance agencies all around southeastern Minnesota for nearly 10 years, until her retirement.
Sue was a longtime active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Stewartville and its Priscilla Circle. As an avid reader, she served on the Stewartville Library Board for a number of years. She loved to bowl and was a member of the Tuesday Morning Coffee League. Sue was a founding member and adult leader of the Interstate Hi-Flyers 4-H Club. Sue loved to sew and every year made holiday dresses for her girls and granddaughters. She was also a member of the Alice Mayo Society. Sue attended many, many events within the Stewartville Schools as she supported her children and grandchildren over the years.
Sue is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bruce; her five children, Bruce Jr. (Pamela) of Ankeny, IA, Jeff (Janell Fox) of Chatfield, Julie (Pete) Rupprecht of rural Stewartville; Kayla (Brian) Asleson of Chatfield and Jon (Brenda) of Lakeville; grandchildren, Bruce Lund III (Taylor), Maddy Lund, Jessie Malone (Sam), Jackie Heiden (TJ), Megan Coleman (Tim), Sammie Ristow, Josh, Zach, and Emilie Rupprecht, Cole Asleson, and Abby, Tommy, and Jake Lund, as well as seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Sue will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church in Stewartville with Rev. Byron Meline and Rev. Kim Kyllo officiating.
A time of visitation for family and friends will take place from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church and one hour prior to the service on Friday morning.
The Lund family suggests memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital in Memphis,Tenn., an institution that held a special place in Sue's heart.
Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville. Condolences and memories of Sue are welcome at
