Memorial service for Marlene Struthers June 13 at Marion Road Christian Church

Marlene Struthers, 67, a longtime rural Stewartville resident, died on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 from complications of heart failure, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, where she had been a patient for three days.
Marlene Campbell was born on March 26, 1953 in Rochester, to Richard and Betty (Thompson) Campbell. She grew up on the family farm, attended Stewartville schools, graduating from Stewartville High School in 1971. She was employed at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester in the records department for several years before becoming the owner/operator of Records Management, storing images of documents on microfiche. She was later employed at Olmsted County in the vital records department, and worked/volunteered in the elections department.
Marlene was married to John Struthers on May 19, 1990 at Marion Church of Christ in Rochester. They resided on the family farm in Pleasant Grove Township, where they raised their children and have continued to make their home. Health concerns caused her early retirement, and Marlene became a fulltime homemaker. John was a crane operator with the Local 49 (retired) in Rochester for over 30 years, working primarily with HiMEC in Rochester. He is currently a part-time driver with Rochester Delivery Services. Marlene loved camping and fishing with John, along with her family and friends at Hope Oak Knoll Campground in Hope. She and John frequently traveled to Colorado to visit family and to enjoy time in the mountains. She loved tending to her beautiful, abundant pink peonies and lilacs, and watching and feeding the birds on the farm. Marlene was an avid reader, crafter, excellent baker and cook, hostess of all celebrations, and a Minnesota Vikings fan. She was always quick to smile and laugh when she saw you, as she enjoyed visiting with friends. She cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marlene is survived by her husband, John; two daughters, Leah Nielsen of Rochester and Krista (Lucas) Peterson of Castle Rock, Colo.; five grandchildren, Tanner Kosnopfal, Shoshana Kosnopfal, Lindsey Kosnopfal, Haley Joerg and Georgia Peterson; two great-granddaughters, Aubree and Harlie; one sister, Charlene Campbell Rogers (Denny) of Castle Rock; one brother, Richard (Cheryl) Campbell of Cloquet, as well as nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant son.
The memorial service for Marlene will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Marion Road Christian Church, 4051 50th Ave SE in Rochester, with Rev. Rick Walston officiating.
A time of visitation for family and friends will take place from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2020 at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville.
Another time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday morning at the church.
Safe social distancing and wearing of masks are encouraged.
In cheerful celebration of Marlene, the color lavender is encouraged. Condolences and memories of Marlene are welcome at www.griffin-gray.com.
